Personal Statement

Information and communication are my keywords.

After finishing my BA degree, majoring in English, I completed the first year of an MA degree in English, with excellent results, prior to deciding to take a year's break to gain experience in employment and travel before returning to my formal education this year. I thoroughly enjoyed a year in which I visited England, Italy and the United States, including two months as a children's summer camp counselor. Options I am considering for the future include work in the media, journalism, writing fiction, or the book retail and publishing industries. I am confident that the skills in critical thinking and information gathering, and the knowledge both general and specialised that I have acquired through my university studies will help me to succeed in whatever direction I choose. I am also very interested in the Internet and Web design, mainly in a recreational way, although I would be very keen to expand these skills in a professional direction should the opportunity arise. Having finished my MA with First Class Honours, although I have been invited to apply for a doctoral scholarship available only to the top 10% of students, I am eager to find an interesting and rewarding job.
